3% or 97%
Which side are you on?
This is a philosophy I've discovered among some of the most elite fighters and martial artists in the world.
See, so many people complain about things in their lives, go on and on about how they wish it were different. Maybe you can think of a few things you'd like to change in your life yourself?
Well before the days of the Internet, the library had the answers you were looking for. Problem was, only 3% of the population went to the library or had a library card.
Access to a massive & life-changing collective knowledge from all humanity and barely 3% of people could be bothered to make use of it.
This point illustrates something which might be affecting you and keeping you from doing more with your life - a 97 percenter attitude.
I pride myself on focusing on the traits of the 3% group and building a culture at my school of ambitious, driven and successful individuals.
Here are 3 of the 10 things people in the 3% group do that makes success so easy for them.
Traits of a 3%er
"small hinges swing big doors"
- W. Clement
Yes or No
The first problem keeping most people in the 97% group is spending too much time and energy in the yes-or-no grey zone.
This FIRST and most important trait of a 3%er is being clear what you are and are not going to do. Crystal clear.
Then when you make a decision - stick to it. Just do it. No excuses. It's that simple. Stop 'trying' to do things in your life and just do it or take it off the list.
Addicted To Coaching, Immune To Criticism
See, one thing you have to realize is there is no magic room. There is no super secret holding you back that the world won't share with you.
Information is easily available. But 3%ers know it not only takes information but experience too. Cut down your learning curve with these two things ALL people in the 3% group do:
If I am hanging out with friends and we are trying to decide where to go for food, the group goes nowhere until we mutually make a decision or goal together. If I want pizza but everyone else wants pasta, the odds are slim I will get what I want. I'll have to convince the others and then KEEP them convinced until we get there. Plus, if the pizza is cold or doesn't taste good all my friends will be mad at me for forcing them to do it. I'm tired just from writing about it.
Or you could do the 3%er thing and still like and hang out with those people, but only when their goals are your goals too.
Not only do you save yourself time, money, energy and drama - you enjoy yourself and the company you keep more. Life is better for you. But your friends from the first group, the pasta group, might criticize you. You leaving makes the choices and decisions of their group seem less 'good'.
Don't let other peoples criticism stop you from doing what you want to do.
Fast Action
I am very proud to admit I have used these 3% principles to achieve extreme success at everything I wanted to be successful at in my life, business and relationships.
For example I always wanted to travel and study martial arts under the worlds greatest martial artists. I personally have now traveled the world - Lived in Japan for 3 years, been to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Thailand, Across the States (USA), 6 times across Canada, PLUS trained with both legendary and unknown martial arts masters.
From this experience I discovered something about success no monk will ever admit to you.
Movement is better than Meditation.
There are 2 reasons why.
You know how a homing missile works?
First there's the guidance system in the missile with a VERY SPECIFIC GOAL (Yes or No). This guidance system tells the missile exactly how to get where it wants to go as quickly as possible (Mentor/Coach) - and the missile takes off with an explosion of energy that gets this thing moving forward. (Fast Action)
Most people in the 97% group never even get this far. They're stuck in 'maybe-land', surrounded by people with very different personal goals who also don't really care about anyone else's goals but their own.
Once you get moving, it's not over yet. As the missile moves the guidance system gives it FEEDBACK - oh, the wind has pushed us 2 degrees off course. (missile adjusts, keeps moving forward)
Then it's guidance system checks again - nope, you overreacted last time and now we're 1 degree off course the other way. (missile adjusts, keeps moving forward)
Repeat.
Notice something? At no point does the missile stop, think about things, question the meaning or purpose of its cause, look at that other missile over there and feel jealous about it's mission.
It did that at step 1. BEFORE it got started. Then it took FAST ACTION to commit to the goal and get momentum. Now once it's moving it has a guidance system it trusts will take it there, keeps its eyes on the prize, makes mistakes, listens to the feedback and keeps moving forward.
In Kingston, if you are looking to study and train Martial Arts - Martial Arts aXis is THE 3% group you want to be a part of if you want your time and money to get you results as fast as possible.
We're not perfect but we work harder, surround ourselves with the BEST mentors available and have the other 7 Traits of a 3%er to easily guarantee we will be successful and you can too.
