We combine the best of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Parkour Free Running to provide the ultimate in Fight or Flight Fitness Training. You will learn the mechanics of a fight. You will learn the proper use of distance, spaces and angles. We make things simple with universal principles and lots of real life application so at the end of each class you know how and why something works against a real resisting opponent! This is what Martial Arts are about!
Let's learn about body mechanics and how it applies to the real mechanics of a fight! Let's take science, physics, kinesiology, philosophy out of school and apply them to some real life scenarios. This is the core of our practice here at Martial Arts aXis and the 2nd Pillar of our curriculum.
Are you sick and tired of walking away from a conflict thinking 'I shoulda.. I woulda.. I coulda...'? In a real life situation, you need to have reflexes ingrained in you THAT ARE PROVEN TO WORK. Forget the 'great master'.. How about students who are able to perform at a high level with fundamental skills?
First of all, does every self defense situation call for fighting skills? Are you sure? Even myself as an instructor, if faced with 8 guys in an alley, for self defense I'd much prefer to get out of there by scaling a wall, grabbing onto the fire escape, getting to the roof so I can urinate, spit and shake my fist at those same 8 men for being shallow people to begin with. (from the safety of the rooftop, of course). This, (minus the urinating and spitting) is the foundation of Parkour. Where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the ultimate 1 on 1 fight art.. Parkour is the ultimate flight art. L'art du Deplacement (art of movement).
Now Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing.. Those are great arts for beating people up. Not so good for protecting yourself. Why? Well, unless you knock them out (Which countless MMA matches have proven isn't always easy) they are still a real threat to your safety.
Submissions however, always finish the fight. At the least, in a 1 on 1 conflict, you'd like to minimize the damage they can do to you. We accomplish this with takedowns and positional control on the ground. Once in control you can choose to Parkour your way out of there, or use your Jiu-Jitsu to submit or subdue your opponent until the police arrive. Remember, on the street you rarely find skills fighters - thus takedowns are really very easy to execute on an attacker. Especially if they are aggressive. If not, well then, there's no fight.. Walk away. Keep your distance so they can't punch/kick you.
This is all really only the tip of the iceberg. To find out more you should contact us or opt-in for more info on training with MAX.
